Lease Lowdown
The Lease Lowdown
Like with most new things, leasing a car might sound like a scary prospect if you have never done it before. A lot of myths and misinformation surround this unique way to drive home with a new Chevy vehicle, so we at Jack Schmitt Chevrolet of O'Fallon want to clear the air surrounding leasing by giving you the information you need to make an informed decision. Our Sales & Leasing Consultants are certified by General Motors and have received extensive training in leases, so don’t hesitate to e-mail or call us with any questions.
Leasing Keeps it Flexible
Afraid of commitment? Leasing might be the perfect way to enjoy the thrill of owning the best and brightest new Chevy vehicle without tying yourself down with loan payments. Leases are usually 24 – 36 months, which is a world of difference from a typical 60-month finance plan. It’s great for young adults who need a more “grown up” car, but still have a lot of adventures to take. Leasing gives customers the flexibility to trade that Cruze in for an Equinox when brunch and bubbly becomes pacifiers and Pampers.
Save Green and Stay Stylish
Thanks to great offers from GM Financial, monthly lease payments and initial money down are typically more affordable than financing. Additionally, leases are always for the newest models on the lot, so you’re able to get a lot of bang for your buck. With leasing, you can keep up with the Joneses in that new Suburban without breaking the bank.
Avoid Entering the Upside Down
While you probably won’t have to worry about Demogorgon, financing a car can sometimes leave you in the upside down. With leasing, you’ll never have to worry about owing more than your car is worth. Your monthly payment goes toward the calculated depreciation on the vehicle over the life of the lease.
Stress-Free Driving
Driving a vehicle from Jack Schmitt Chevrolet of O'Fallon at all is usually a good sign that you don’t have to stress about unplanned repairs due to the high level of quality and reliability of Chevy cars, but leasing a new Chevy can alleviate any remaining worry. Thanks to the short terms of leases, your new Chevy will be covered under the same 3-year/36,000 mile limited warranty as well as the industry-leading Bumper-to-Bumper warranty .
Myth 1: It's Just Renting.
A lot of people describe leasing as renting, like an apartment. However, at any point during your car lease, you can decide to purchase the car from our dealership. On top of that, you are free to break the lease at any time by turning in the car early. There will be provisions in your contract about how that can be done, so just be sure to talk through the details with us before signing.
Myth 2: You'll Rack Up Fees.
A lot of people share untrue horror stories about owing money for the condition of the car, but most dealerships (including us) are very lenient about the condition when you turn it in, within reason. Furthermore, others are often concerned about mileage limits. While you will have to pay if you exceed your set limit, that limit can be set at the start of the lease based on your current driving habits with plenty of wiggle room for you, just in case. It is very uncommon to exceed the mileage limits.
Myth 3: Leases Are Just For Business.
While leasing was originally developed for businesses, it has evolved to make sense for regular drivers. In fact, you will get some of the same tax breaks when leasing that businesses enjoy. Ask us for details on leasing taxes when you stop in.
